Tom received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration  with a major in accounting from John Carroll University. He then met the requirements for registration as a Certified Public Accountant in Illinois. Tom oversees the firm's Construction Industry practice.

Upon graduation from John Carroll, Tom took a position in the closely held business division of one of the large international public accounting firms, where he also became an audit manager. He left the firm to take a position as the chief financial officer of one of his clients. He joined Hansen Plahm & Company in 1998, and has since become a partner.

Tom is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society.

Tom and his wife Ginny live in Downers Grove, Illinois. They have two children.
